What's up with the "Official Tahiti Tourism" links"?
It would seem logical that ALL the "official" tourism websites and visitors guides for Tahiti and her islands would be listed here. There are, in fact, SEVERAL of them floating around in cyberspace. Interestingly, though, only ONE is reciprocally linking with us...
What's curious about this is that while ALL of them CLAIM to be interested in promoting tourism and travel in French Polynesia for the overall good of Polynesia, only one, it seems, has the hootzpah and confidence in itself to link to us.
Why do we say this and why do you suppose the other large "official tourism sites" continually refuse Tahiti Sun Travel's efforts at reciprocally linking them?
This has been a question puzzling us for years. While indeed many ARE linking various commercial sites regarding Tahitian tourism and travel from all over the world, it seems particularly clear to us now (after many years of trying) that these "official tourism sites" are VERY selective about who they reciprocally link. (VERY contrary to their public claims)
We don't undertand this at all... Isn't it true that our network of websites does a pretty good job in PROMOTING TOURISM in Tahiti and her islands? We are direct linking to over 65 local businesses and websites in Polynesia.
We at TST simply ask:
What are they afraid of? Do they think we are "threatening their business" somehow? If they claim to truly want to promote tourism in Tahiti, then why do they continually IGNORE OUR Emails, pleas, calls, and requests for reciprocal links? (We even linked them one-way for over one year before finally writing this out of frustration)
All we can assume is that they are INTIMIDATED TO RECIPROCALLY LINK TO US because they think OUR SITES AND NETWORK IS BETTER AT PROMOTING TOURISM THAN THEIRS! (And all we can say regarding that is "oh well"... it probably is...) Maybe they really aren't interested in promoting tourism in Polynesia after all but instead are more interested in only promoting themselves?)
