Tahiti Island proper and Tahiti-Nui definately have their share of unique artists and
craftsmen for an island the size of Tahiti. The sheer number of outlets and
galleries to sell their wares assure Tahiti it's place in the art world...
In all reality, since the island of Tahiti has the most people of all the islands, it probably also has the highest amount
of artists per capita and is the recognized "art capital" of French
Polynesia. The majority of these artists sell their work in the city of Papeete, at some outlet, gallery,
or other source, but there are also a number of them that stick to the various
"art colonies" around the island.
